Welling United romp into FA Cup fourth qualifying round with comfortable win over Hereford Town

Another outstanding performance by Welling United eased them into the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup at the expense of Hereford.

Marc Richards was unveiled as new Hereford head coach earlier in the week but his Bulls were never on the charge in a 2-0 defeat.

Although clearcut chances were few and far between, Welling controlled the game.

Martin Horsell made an early save for Hereford when Jack Jebb sent a free-kick around the defensive wall.

Welling keeper Dan Wilks made his only stop during the 90 minutes, claiming Lewis Hall’s shot with relative ease.

Michael McGrath fouled Nassim L’Ghoul and Jebb’s free-kick begged Thierry Audel to head home and he duly obliged.

Horsell and McGrath collided going for the ball and both had to be replaced.

Josh Hill poked wide after the break after Danny Mills headed down Jebb’s corner. Kiernan slipped Mills through but substitute goalkeeper Brandon Powell was out quickly to smother.

Steve King’s Wings are unbeaten in nine National League South and FA Cup matches and will host Slough Town on October 13, which is Non-League Day.
