Wilfried Zaha facing more time on the sidelines as FA hit him with misconduct charge

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Wilfried Zaha’s suspension looks set to be longer than just Crystal Palace’s home game against Fulham on Saturday – after the FA charged him with improper conduct.

The Eagles attacker was sent off in last night’s 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Zaha was booked for his reaction to a challenge from James Ward-Prowse and then earned a second yellow after sarcastically clapping referee Andre Marriner.

The Ivory Coast international did not immediately leave the field of play.

Zaha is already banned for this weekend’s match but now looks likely to get at least one match added to that total.

An FA statement said: “Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha has been charged following the game against Southampton yesterday (January 30, 2019).

“It is alleged his behaviour following a second-half dismissal amounts to improper conduct. The player has until 6pm on February 5, 2019 to respond to the charge.”
