What’s On This Week: The Lewisham Model Market, May 3rd – 6th

A summer market is opening its doors again for the summer with an early spring bank holiday party.

The Lewisham Model Market – an indoor and outdoor market created by Street Feast – which is located just outside of Lewisham Shopping Centre, will have an extended launch from May 3-6, showcasing a revamped street food line-up alongside DJs, games and a bar.

Among the eight traders is 2018 Great British Menu winner James Cochran, making his street food debut with GOAT as well as Thai specialists, KraPow, who will offer their PowPow chicken wings for the first time in a street food setting.

Josh Williams, head of content and marketing at Street Feast, said: “It’s a thrill to back to Lewisham with so many new traders and such a variety of food.

“To be hosting James Cochran’s first street food venture is a real honour for us.

Model Market always has a fantastic atmosphere and I know that when the rum starts flowing, there’s going to be some epic parties between now and September.”

Lewisham locals Wandercrust are serving their wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, including the winner of the 2018 London Pizza Festival, the American Psycho.

Secret Nicky’s, London’s original frozen custard company, will also be there transporting a staple of the American Mid-West to SE13.

High Line, part of the market’s rooftop sunset strip, is one of six bars providing the drink options including Gin Salon bringing creative gin and tonics, Can Hatch will be brimming with beer brews, Street Vin showcases international wine producers and Rum Shack’s got unforgettable daiquiris.

Paul Redden, general manager at Lewisham Shopping Centre, said: “We are delighted to see the Street Feast Model Market returning to Lewisham.

The market has been such a success in previous years and it’s great to be able to support lots of local, independent traders once again.

We know our customers and the people of Lewisham will thoroughly enjoy it yet again.”

Model Market will be open Friday and Saturday nights from 5pm until late, with entry free before 7pm and £3 after.
