What’s on – St Patrick’s Day this weekend

With the Irish rugby team raising the Six Nations rugby union trophy on Saturday, St Patrick’s Day 2018 is doubtlessly going to be double the craic.

And there’s no shortage of shamrock-themed happenings on Saturday for those who want to inaugurate themselves to the Irish nation for a day.

Pop Brixton is inviting people to pop on some green and don a shamrock and head down to their Paddy’s Party on Saturday evening.

There’ll be live music, Irish dancing, face painting, Guinness, food special and “London’s wildest ceilidh band” – Fiddle Paradiddle Ceilidh.

Best of all it’s free to go in. Just bring enough pocket money for pints.

Free, 5pm-midnight

The Vaults in Waterloo are putting an alternative spin on the celebration with their mob-themed party, inspired by the TV series Peaky Blinders.

The scene is set with the death of a top Irish mobster in 1918. But fear not, this won’t be a macabre affair because a wake is an excuse for a party.

This party will involve gangsters, music, jigs and a hell of a lot of whiskey. Don your best flat caps and furs to really get into the vibe.

The Batch in Peckham are offering a sit-down Irish.

If you’ve never had one of these before, it’ll looks like this – Irish coffee on arrival, followed by Irish stew topped off with Irish whiskey tasting.

For entertainment, everyone’s favourite priest Father Ted will be on the screen in the background and Batch has big screens to watch the rugby on.

Free entry available for people who just want to party and pay and go for drinks.
