What’s On: Ministry of Sound 28th Birthday celebrations
One of the biggest nightclubs names in the world is celebrating its 28th birthday next month with a two-part special event.
Ministry of Sound, based in Elephant and Castle, are pulling out all the stops for a party on September 28 and October 5.
The event will see the club transformed with new decor and themes as well as music from Faithless, DJ Harvey, Space Dimension Controller, Alfredo, Youngr, Feelings and many more.
The events will form the high point of a celebration that lasts two weeks in all and will draw on the history of the iconic club as well as the music it has helped to define.
Each of the club’s famous rooms will take on its own character with actors and
performers milling around to add to the uniquely theatrical occasion, all with you as one of the central starring characters in this movie-like experience.
Each room will become a different party capital – The Courtyard will become Ibiza, and once you are welcomed through Ibiza
airport you will find yourself in a classic beach club setting with smoking areas and a glitzy bar.
Sun loungers will be available with the various themed inflatables and matching the Balaeric soundtrack.
The Box will transport you to the heart of New York City with imagery and symbols paying homage to one of the most important cities in the development of dance music.
Think huge disco balls, skylines, statues and much more as you are immersed in a truly colourful and welcoming atmosphere, all with an old school flair and
hedonistic spirit.
The 103 will be all about London, with giant structures, hanging signs, LED screens, shoeboxes, inflatables and performers all celebrating everything that makes the capital a fitting home for the Ministry of Sound.
The first of the two events features dance music legend, Faithless, doing a DJ Set with a live show from popstar Youngr.
Part 2 comes a week later on October 5 when DJ Harvey returns to the club.
The DJ held his own special residency at the club last year and is a real rockstar with a multi-genre sound and unique style of playing.
He will be joined by space techno master Space Dimension Controller, while original Balearic pioneer Alfredo brings a wonderfully mixed bag of music and love, with Feelings rounding off the line-up.
