Ashleigh Neville scored two identical headers to give Tottenham a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory at FA Women’s Championship promotion rivals Charlton.
Second-placed Spurs looked to be on their way to a third straight defeat when Liz Ejupi headed the hosts ahead after 41 minutes and Kit Graham doubled the Addicks lead with a 25-yard wonder strike seconds after the restart.
But Spurs came storming back through top scorer Rianna Dean’s 53rd-minute spot-kick.
Neville then headed the leveller from Jenna Schillaci’s 71st-minute corner and struck again from the same corner routine nine minutes later to seal a remarkable victory.
Defeat ended Charlton’s hopes of finishing in the top two in the Championship, while Spurs lead third-placed Durham by four points with the two set to meet on the final day of the season.
A hotly-contested first-half provided little goalmouth action although Charlton striker Graham was disappointed to flash a header over from Charlotte Gurr’s second-minute corner.
Chloe Morgan did well to push away Grace Coombs’ 18th-minute free-kick which bounced wickedly in front of her and Ejupi broke the deadlock when she rose highest to head home Gurr’s cross from six yards just before the break.
The second half was only 45 seconds old when Graham stepped inside Schillaci and unleashed a curling left-footed shot that went in off the post to make it 2-0.
But Spurs weren’t beaten as Dean struck from the spot on 53 minutes after sub Angela Addison was tripped by Sara Eggesvik.
Neville then rose highest at the near post to nod Spurs level from Schillaci’s in-swinging corner and repeated the trick with ten minutes remaining to give Spurs three crucial points.
