The court heard how Hogan carried out the sexual abuse whilst working as a private maths tutor. The victims were aged between eight and 13-years-old at the time of the assaults.

Detectives in the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences (CASO) unit began an investigation in June 2016 after one of the victims, a 13-year-old girl, reported the incident to a teacher. She was abused over a three-year period at Hogan’s home address, whilst being taught maths.

Subsequent police enquiries revealed a further victim, now in her late 20s, who was approached and willing to assist police in this investigation. She was around eight-years-old at the time of the abuse, which occurred between 1995 and 1996.

Hogan was arrested in June 2016, in police interview he denied the allegations of sexual abuse.

He was charged on January 16 with four counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, one count of offender 18 or over engage in non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 to 15 and two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 years-old.

Hogan pleaded not guilty ton March 18 o all the offences at Kingston Crown Court.

Detective Constable’s Vicky Wiltshire and Jo Williams of the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command said: “The victims’ parents put their trust in Hogan to teach their children whilst they were under his supervision – he breached that trust in the most abhorrent way.

“We would like to thank all of the families involved in this investigation – without their assistance the outcome would not have been possible.

“Hogan has caused immense distress and trauma for the victims and their families and hope his sentence will go towards providing some closure for them.

“Hogan has been teaching children privately for at least 20 years and we fear there may be more victims.

“We would urge any other potential victims to come forward and contact police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information of a potential victim is asked to contact DC Vicky Wiltshire or DC Jo Williams on 101. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111.
