Tooting & Mitcham face holders in London Senior Cup semi-final
By Richard Cawley
Tooting & Mitcham moved through to a London Senior Cup semi-final against defending holders Cray Valley PM with a 1-0 victory at Metropolitan Police on Tuesday night.
Isaiah Jones headed the only goal in the first half to secure the Terrors passage to the last four.
He met Peter Wedgeworth’s 41st-minute cross to break the deadlock.
Former Tooting keeper Alex Kozakis got a hand to Jones’ header but was unable to keep it out.
Tooting have enjoyed the competition with two appearances in the final in the last three years – including winning the silverware in May 2016.
The Terrors return to Bostik League Premier Division action tomorrow as they host mid-table Leiston.
Frank Wilson’s side are six points above bottom club Burgess Hill Town but have played three more matches.
Their midweek success at Imber Court improves their unbeaten run to six games and they have kept four clean sheets in their last five fixtures.
