Sunderland away for Charlton Athletic on opening day – before home showdown with Shrewsbury Town
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Charlton Athletic will head to Sunderland on the opening day of the 2018-19 League One season.
The Black Cats were relegated from the Championship and are one of the hot favourites for promotion.
Charlton’s first home game sees them face Shrewsbury Town, who beat them in the play-off semi-finals in May.
Next up for the Addicks after that is a trip to Accrington Stanley, promoted from League Two last season, before Valley dates with Peterborough (August 21) and Fleetwood Town (August 25) to round off the opening month.
