Steve Gallen: It’s a privilege to be appointed a Charlton Athletic director

Steve Gallen has described it as an “honour and a privilege” after being appointed to Charlton’s board of directors.

The club’s head of recruitment has won plenty of plaudits since taking on that role in April 2017.

And Gallen has now joined owner Roland Duchatelet and Richard Murray, a former chairman, on the board.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be appointed to the board of directors,” Gallen told the club’s official website. “I have really enjoyed my time at Charlton.

“Last season was incredible and winning at Wembley is something I’ll never forget. This season is a new challenge and like everyone I’ve been thrilled with how we’ve started.

“I am fortunate to work with some exceptional staff and I just want to continue doing all I can for the club, the staff and the fans, who have been great with me.”

Duchatelet added: “Steve Gallen has done an excellent job since joining the club. The recruitment last summer, working alongside his team and with Lee Bowyer, was essential to the club’s promotion and he has done some great work again this summer.

“He has a very good relationship with Lee Bowyer, he is popular with the club’s staff and has built up a good rapport with the Charlton fans.

“He will add his football expertise and experience to the board of directors. Selling the club remains our number one priority and it is important the football doesn’t suffer in that process, with Steve on the board of directors that can only help.”

Well done Steve you deserve all the plaudits. Long may it continue. Unbelievable knowledge and judgement.
