South Social Film Festival celebrates Chile in Elephant & Castle
South Social celebrates CHILE is a trans-geographical, multicultural and multidimensional festival that will celebrate CHILE by way of independent cinema, world music and regional cuisine on July 13 at the new Elephant Park, in Elephant & Castle.
The festival will be dedicated to Chile’s diversity and culture and shine a light on the Latino community based in the area.
The event centres on a film by Dominga Sotomayor, TARDE PARA MORIR JOVEN, (Too Late To Die Young) – a winner at both the Locarno and Rotterdam Film Festivals. Democracy comes back to Chile during the summer of 1990. In an isolated community, teenagers Sofía and Lucas, and Clara, aged 10, face their first loves and fears, while preparing for New Year’s Eve. They may live far from the dangers of the city, but not from those of nature.
The festival opens with a live concert by SILVIA BALDUCCI, a musician with a love for the New Chilean Song movement. She also breathes Violeta Paerican music as starting point to create his own songs.
The food will include special Chilean empanadas, choripanes and humitas and there is Latin America fine wines, spirits and cocktails.
6:30pm: Opening, Food & drinks stalls, 7:30pm: Chilean band, 8:30pm: Screening, 10:30pm End of festival.
