Shrewsbury Town v Charlton Athletic team news: Lee Bowyer hands full Addicks debuts to Ben Purrington and Jonny Williams

Jonny Williams and Ben Purrington make their full Charlton debuts as the South Londoners visit Shrewsbury Town this afternoon.

Addicks boss Lee Bowyer make just two changes from the side that played out a credible draw with Sunderland at The Valley last weekend.

Left-back Purrington, who signed on-loan from Rotherham United for the rest of the campaign during the week, comes straight into the side. The move will see Chris Solly revert to his more comfortable position on the right-hand-side of the defence, with Anfernee Dijksteel dropping to the bench.

Williams impressed during his twenty-minute cameo against the Black Cats and is rewarded with a start in the number 10 role behind Karlan Grant and Lyle Taylor. Tariqe Fosu also takes his place amongst the substitutes, with Darren Pratley, Albie Morgan and Krystian Bielik completing the midfield diamond.

Dillon Phillips keeps his place between the sticks despite the temporary arrival of fellow stopper Chris Maxwell from Preston North End.

Charlton: Phillips, Solly, Bauer, Sarr, Purrington, Bielik, Pratley, Morgan, Williams, Grant, Taylor. Subs: Maxwell, Lapslie, Marshall, Hackett-Fairchild, Clarke, Dijksteel, Fosu.
