RSPCA rescues snake found in bath
Taking a dip in a bath to cool down from the sweltering heat would normally be a welcoming experience – that is unless you find a snake waiting for you in the bathtub.
That’s exactly what greeted one homeowner from Croydon recently and the RSPCA were called in to retrieve the slithering reptile.
Natasha Wallis, from the RSPCA, went to the property on June 14.
She said: “I was expecting to find a snake in a bath and a slightly terrified homeowner but actually the caller had managed to confine the snake and it was waiting for me outside.
“Corn snakes are the most common snake kept in the UK so we do find them straying quite often.
“The caller explained that they had seen the snake before, so it had obviously been on the loose for a little while.
If you do own a snake, it’s always best to make sure their vivarium and your home is escape-proof.”
Insp Wallis took the snake to an RSPCA animal centre to be cared for until it can be rehomed.
Corn snakes can live for between 10 and 15 years.
