A collision which killed a bus driver last night was an accident waiting to happen, residents claim.
The crash involving two buses and a car happened on Sevenoaks Road, Orpington last night.
Police were called to the scene at 10.12pm, where the bus driver was pronounced dead.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving.
One resident Caroline McCluskey, of 47 Sevenoaks Road, said a lot of drivers use the road as a shortcut.
She said: “It’s amazing it’s not happened before really.
“They come down Park Avenue and they just shoot across so you can be walking across to get to the other side of Park Avenue and a car will just shoot up.
“It’s a wonder somebody’s not been killed just on the crossing.”
The 24-year old man was taken to a South London hospital as a precaution before being taken to a South London police station where he remains in custody.
Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are investigating.
They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam, mobile phone or CCTV footage of the collision to urgently get in touch.
Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room number on 020 8285 1574 or police on 101 quoting CAD 9509/31OCT.
