Pre-school children welcome Chinese New Year in Charlton
Chinese New Year on Saturday marked the beginning of the Year of the Rat.
Pre-school children had fun when Charlton Triangle Homes hosted a party evening for them at the Charlton Family Centre in Shirley House Drive.
The youngsters, aged two to five, were told about the other animals that the Chinese New Year uses in its zodiac. They were asked to imitate the noises of each.
There was also some Chinese food and a colourful Chinese-themed setting, which they all loved. There was also some Chinese dress-up clothes they could dress up in.
Charlton Triangle Homes will also be holding a pop-in event on Thursday at its volunteer café at 92a Blaker Court, Charlton to give all residents the chance to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Charlton Triangle Homes assistant director Nigel Pierce said: “Charlton Family Centre have helped our youngest residents celebrate Chinese New year in a colourful, exciting and truly educational way.
“Children and adults of all ages love the spectacle that Chinese New year brings, and these young children have had a wonderful time learning and celebrating together.
