Peckham Levels announces events celebrating sisterhood and female talent for International Women’s Day

Sunday 8th March will be devoted to International Women’s Day with events including Divine Women, a live music show hosted by an all-female line up, supporting sisterhood and female talent within the industry whilst creating a safe and inclusive space for all women to come together.

On the same day, The Looking Glass Collective will be hosting an International Women Day Textile Workshop, celebrating all things womanhood. Attendees can learn how to design their own tote bag using vinyls and a heat press technique.

If you’re a music fanatic Peckham Levels is the place to be this March.

As well as the Black Listening Party the Levels will be hosting the return of Fireball Sessions (Thursday 5th), a high energy night of interactive live music.

Focus Africa (Saturday 21st) will also be returning to Peckham Levels as they take over the Auditorium for a night of African rhythms, colours and melodies.]

Entertaining guests will be a pioneer of Afro-funk and High Life, Paapa Jeh Mensah and his band, the South-London-based Afro Funksion.

Peckham Levels’ Check The Levels event series will be hosting female DJ’s only with appearances from Rae Dee and 211 Girls.

Black Listening Party (Sunday 22nd) are also back for another edition, this time celebrating the contribution that black women have made in music with workshops, panels and an intimate listening party format.

Divine Women @ Auditorium (7pm-late) – FREE
A live music show to celebrate International Women’s Day, hosting an all-female line up in order to support sisterhood and female talent within the industry, whilst creating a safe space for us all to come together. This is an inclusive and educative space run by women, enjoyed by everyone.

Looking Glass Collective – International Women’s Workshop @ Community Workspace (2-6pm) – FREE
Join Ola and Maggie, two Peckham-bred girl bosses for a Textiles Workshop celebrating all things Womanhood on International Women’s Day. They’ll be running a workshop where you will learn how to design your own tote bag using vinyls and a heat press technique.

Black Listening Party: Celebrating Black Women In Music @ Community Workspace & Crows Nest (7pm-close) – FREE
Join Black Listening Party for a day of celebrating black women in music, with workshops, panels & their traditional listening party format.
