Millwall’s Shaun Hutchinson on upturn in away form and facing Neil Harris’ Cardiff City

BY ALEX GRACE

Shaun Hutchinson believes that Millwall need to find the right balance so that they pick up enough points on the road and at The Den.

Since the arrival of Gary Rowett as Lions manager there has been an upturn in away form with the South Londoners winning three of their last four away from South London.

But their home form has taken a slight knock. Millwall are without a win in SE16 since the last-gasp victory over Charlton in early November.

“Usually we’ve been doing well at home and struggling away – but we’ve kind of flipped that around,” said Hutchinson.

“We need to make sure that we find a balance between the two and start picking up points at home and away.”

Millwall have failed to keep a clean sheet at home since the 2-0 victory over Stoke on October 26.

“In general we have been conceding too many goals at home,” said the former Fulham and Motherwell centre-back. “It’s two goals in the last four games. We need to get to that solid defensive display that we know we are capable of.”

Next up for Millwall is a reunion with Neil Harris on Boxing Day with the Lions travelling to Cardiff.

Hutchinson said: ”We look forward to every game, the way the away form has been lately, we don’t fear anyone away from home now.

“We know we can go anywhere and put on a performance. He [Harris] will know all of our strengths and weaknesses and he will set a team up to get three points.

“We’ve probably put a bit more pressure on ourselves now, not winning at home, so we need to go there and put in a good performance and get as many points as we can.”
