Millwall owner promises transfer backing for boss Neil Harris in January window

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

John Berylson is ready to back Millwall boss Neil Harris in the January window – citing the success of the second half of last season as how incoming deals can help in revitalising fortunes.

The Lions produced a storming run from January which took them to the verge of the Championship play-offs. They ended the campaign eighth.

Ben Marshall, Tim Cahill and Jason Shackell were all experienced additions a year ago.

Chairman Berylson, writing in Millwall’s matchday programme before today’s match against Nottingham Forest, said: “It’s important that we strengthen the squad during the January transfer window and Neil Harris, Steve Kavanagh and our recruitment team have been very busy for a number of weeks now as we prepare for it to open.

“The manager has his list of targets and, as always, we will endeavour to get those players through the door.

“Last season was a great example of what a successful transfer window can help you to achieve and we hope that adding a few faces to the squad will provide a similar boost with an important and exciting few months ahead.”
