Neil Harris reckons the FA should be looking at referee Andrew Madley’s decision not to send off Richard Wood rather than charging Millwall and Rotherham.
Players from both sides clashed in the Lions penalty box during Saturday’s 0-0 draw at The Den.
The FA charge was for “failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion”.
They had until last night to respond, with a six-figure fine likely.
Harris said: “The game didn’t have one yellow card or one bad challenge, other than the challenge which led to the yellow.
“My players have a responsibility to protect their goalkeeper and break things off.
If that’s a mass confrontation in the modern game, it’s a shame.
“We’ll accept any charge that comes our way but they should be looking at the referee and why he didn’t give a red card.
That could have transformed the game because Rotherham would have been playing with 10 men for over 40 minutes.
“That would have been tough for them. That was the big crime and the ref got his decision wrong.”
