Mercedes failed to stop after collision with woman in Rotherhithe OId Road

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fail-to-stop collision in Southwark.

Officers were called at approximately 08:55hrs on Monday, 5 March to Rotherhithe Old Road, near Surrey Quays station to a report of a car in collision with a pedestrian

The pedestrain, a 46-year-old woman was found injured and taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Her next of kin have been informed.

The vehicle involved, a blue Mercedes B200 Sport, failed to stop at the scene.

The car was found later that day abandoned in Kirby Estate, SE16.

As part of the investigation, officers returned at around 11:00hrs on Tuesday, 6 March to take photographs of the scene.

Road closures were put in place for a short while so this work could be undertaken.

No arrests at this time.

Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating.
