Mahlon Romeo signs new long-term deal at Millwall

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Mahlon Romeo has signed a new long-term contract at Millwall.

The 22-year-old ended last season as the club’s first-choice pick at right-back.

Romeo’s previous terms were due to end in June 2019 but he has now put to paper on an improved deal.

Millwall are looking to hand a number of their impressive performers new contracts. And that applies to a healthy chunk of Neil Harris’ squad after a highly impressive ninth place finish in their first season in the Championship.

Romeo was a free transfer signing from Gillingham in July 2015 and has stepped in confidently after Conor McLaughlin’s suspension at the end of November.

The consistent nature of his displays saw him only miss two matches and one of those  – the final day win over Aston Villa at The Den – was due to a groin injury.

Romeo has made 89 appearances for Millwall and scored three goals.
