‘Let’s get Perrie home for Christmas’

Vets saved a cat hit by a car – now all they need to do is find her family. Little Perrie, so named as she was found in Perry Hill, was brought into the Mayow Veterinary Surgery in Mayow Road, Sydenham, three weeks ago on November 3 with a badly broken leg after being found at the side of the road.

She had probably been hit by a car.

Staff at the Mayow acted quickly to stabilise her before transferring her to the Streatham Hill Vets, where surgeon Gabriella Papa conducted an emergency operation to install a supportive brace which will hold the leg bone in place and allow it to heal. But the cat had no identification and the practice staff are hoping she can be reunited with the family who lost her.

Hazel O’Mullan, group marketing manager of DNA Vetcare, who own Streatham Hill Vets said: “The team at Mayow acted quickly to stabilise her before transferring her to our surgery in an attempt to save her leg, which had been seriously damaged from the impact.

Perrie’s X-ray

“X-rays showed extensive damage and a complex fracture that needed immediate surgery.

“Our amazing vet Gabriella, always quick to act, scrubbed in and applied multiple pins and an external fixation device to allow the fracture to heal correctly.

“We hope Perrie’s family reads this so they know she is safe and  recovering well in our safe hands. It would be nice to get her home in time for Christmas.

“However, if they can’t be found we are more than happy to take care of her and find her a forever home as soon as she’s back on all four paws.”
