Lee Bowyer praises Charlton’s Mark Marshall for his performance during the FA Cup defeat against Doncaster
Lee Bowyer praised Mark Marshall after his display during the 2-0 home FA Cup defeat against Doncaster Rovers.
The winger had found his chances limited in the early part of this season but had been easing himself back into contention over the last few weeks.
Marshall played the full 90 minutes against Donny and stood out for Bowyer.
“Mark Marshall, that’s the best he’s played for us since I’ve been in charge,” explained Bowyer. He took his full-back on, put good balls into the box. The keeper made an unbelievable save from his header.
“With injuries, you don’t know what’s around the corner. I’ve told him, I’m straight and honest with all of them, that’s the best game you’ve played since I’ve been in charge. Now you’re looking confident.
“Putting good balls into the box. Before, his end product was poor. He’s been working at that and now his end product is good. That’s good for me. If I do need him and do want him, I know that I can trust him. That’s what these games are about.”
