Lee Bowyer has revealed that Charlton Athletic fans were praised for their support at Home Park – by someone with Plymouth Argyle connections.
The Addicks had a following of 817 in Devon. Lyle Taylor and Igor Vetokele scored in a 2-0 win.
Charlton manager Bowyer said: “Our fans were unbelievable from start to finish. Someone from Plymouth came up to me afterwards and said they were a credit to our club.
“Plymouth is a million miles away – it’s a tough journey as well.”
Charlton have a far shorter trip tomorrow night as they head to Wycombe.
“Hopefully they travel in numbers because we always do well when the fans are bouncing,” said Bowyer. “But I understand that a lot might have gone on Saturday and on a Tuesday night they could be working.
“I’m sure the ones who can go will go.”
