Lee Bowyer and Joe Pigott both winners in the EFL April awards
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Lee Bowyer and Joe Pigott have made it a South London double in the EFL League One monthly awards for April.
Bowyer saw his Charlton side win five of their six matches in the month and won Manager of the Month.
He has been nominated before this season, but this time pipped Kenny Jackett (Portsmouth), Daniel Stendel (Barnsley) and Brian Barry-Murphy (Rochdale) to the accolade.
Pigott scored five of AFC Wimbledon’s six goals in April as they finally climbed out of the bottom four at the end of the month. He claimed the Player of the Month award.
Charlton’s Lyle Taylor, Alex Mowatt (Barnsley) and Jim McNulty (Rochdale) were also shortlisted.
