Jon Dadi Bodavarsson’s Iceland lost 4-2 to Albania on Tuesday evening.

The Lions striker, who had scored in their European Championship qualifier against Moldova at the weekend, was subbed off in midweek.

Iceland are third in Group H – with France topping the table on goal difference from Turkey.

Jayson Molumby skippered Republic of Ireland U21s as they pulled off an impressive 3-1 victory in Sweden.

The on-loan Brighton midfielder was booked in the 77th minute.

Danny McNamara, who made a temporary switch to Newport County, was an unused substitute for the second fixture in a row.

Ireland are top in Group A in their qualifying campaign for the U21 European Championship but Iceland and Italy have played less matches.

Shane Ferguson did not get off the bench as Northern Ireland lost 2-0 at home to Germany in a European Championship qualifier on Monday night.
