Kamil Grosicki has claimed that he meant his long-distance free-kick goal against Millwall.

The Poland winger scored from around 40 yards out against the Lions last weekend – the ball dipping over Bartosz Bialkowski and into the top right corner.

“I try to hit all the [free-kicks] in to the goal,” Grosicki told Polish media this week. “This time it came in nice, there was a good wind – thanks to it, the ball accelerated a bit.

“People who know me know I’m unpredictable and I try to shoot from every position. A week ago in a league match, I shot from 30 metres from the centre of the field.

“I wanted to figure it out a bit, I hit it with a straight raise and the ball flew 10 metres above the goal.

“There was some laughter then and a week later I scored a beautiful goal.

“If Leo Messi got it, everyone would say it’s magic.”
