Gavin Ward to ref Charlton-Doncaster – and Addicks have won both games he has officiated at Valley this season
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Gavin Ward is the referee for Charlton’s League One play-off semi-final decider on Friday night – and the South London club will be hoping for a hat-trick of victories this season when he has been in charge of the whistle.
Ward dished out five yellow cards in the 2-0 win over Doncaster in November – Jamie Ward the only home player booked.
And he sent off Andrew Shinnie for two bookable offences in Charlton’s 3-1 victory over Luton Town in SE7 last month. Igor Vetokele and Lyle Taylor picked up cautions.
The Addicks know that a draw will be good enough to see them progress to the final at Wembley.
