Police have released an image of a man they would like to trace after an officer was run over following a routine vehicle stop in Lewisham.
Two officers in an unmarked police car stopped a white Renault van in Fordmill Road, after spotting damage to the vehicle yesterday, Thursday, 18 July at 4pm.
One of the officers got out of the police car and spoke to the driver.
The driver then suddenly reversed his vehicle, knocking over the other officer who at this time was standing by the police car.
The driver continued to reverse his vehicle on top of the officer as he lay on the ground before driving off.
An ambulance was called and the officer, aged in his 20s, was taken to a South London hospital, where he remains having suffered injuries to his leg and hand. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
The other officers involved in this incident did not sustain any injuries. All officers are attached to the Violent Crime Taskforce.
Police would like to speak to Nicholas Scantlebury, 35, in connection with this incident.
Anyone who has information as to his whereabouts is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC ref CAD 5244/18 July.
