Erith Town striker Ken Charles signs for Colchester United

Erith Town striker Ken Charles has signed for Colchester United.

The 18-year-old was taken on trial by the League One club at the start of the season.

Charles told Colchester’s official website: “Last season, I was only playing for Erith Town FC, and for the U18s at Maidstone United.

“A scout came to one of my games and he must have liked what he saw because he arranged a trial for me here.

“I came during pre-season, trained every day for six weeks and was then offered a contract which I was pleased about, having come from nowhere really.”
