Dulwich Hamlet sign former Ipswich Town midfielder Byron Lawrence

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose has made his first signing of the summer – former Ipswich Town midfielder Byron Lawrence.

The 22-year-old spent the 2017-18 season on loan from Billericay Town to Histon Town.

Lawrence’s performances for Histon had seen the Essex side move for his services in March 2017.

He joined Ipswich’s academy from Histon as a schoolboy and broke into their first-team squad as a 15-year-old when he was an unused sub in the 2-1 League Cup defeat to Northampton in August 2011.

Lawrence became the club’s second-youngest first-team player behind Connor Wickham when he came on as a sub aged 16 years and 47 days on the final day of the 2011-12 season.
