Draw consolidates comfortable position for Dulwich

Dulwich Hamlet had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their final match of the season in National League South at relegated Weston-super-Mare, writes Yann Tear.

But the result was still good enough to ensure a creditable 14th place finish – 10 points above the drop zone. That represents a degree of comfort considering they were looking nervously over their shoulders a few weeks ago.

A run of one defeat in the final six fixtures has eased Hamlet away from trouble, taking them to 49 points.

Aryan Tajbakhsh found the net 12 minutes from time to cancel out a goal from Jarrod Welch for the home side right at the end of the first half.

In the Conference Premier, Bromley secured 12th place with an excellent 5-1 victory over Ebbsfleet United, who finished one place below the play-off positions.

George Porter gave the South-east Londoners a first-half lead and three goals in a 15-minute spell early in the second half settled the outcome – Frankie Sutherland and Richard Brindley on target. Further strikes from JJ Hooper and Luke Coulson added some gloss after Andy Drury had pulled a goal back for the well-beaten visitors. It was a first win in five since the early-April triumph over champions Leyton Orient.

Tooting & Mitcham United may have missed out on the play-offs, but at least they signed off with a win to finish in sixth place in the Isthmian South Central League.

Late goals from Hady Ghandour (78 minutes) and Dontai Stewart (82) were just enough for a win against FC Romania at Imperial Fields – an own goal from keeper Ethan Wady six minutes from time proving to be not quite enough for the visitors, with the game ending 2-1.

The Terrors close the season five points and one place behind the dotted line denoting the play-off qualifiers.

Greenwich Borough suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Hastings United, which confirms they finish bottom of the Isthmian South East Division – a three-point penalty deduction proving the difference as they ended up three points adrift of Guernsey, albeit with a vastly-inferior goal difference anyway.

Luke Leppard netted after 58 minutes, but they were already 3-0 down to play-off contenders Hastings by then – two first-half goals from Jack Dixon and a penalty from Sam Adams leaving Greenwich with too much to do.

A goal from Jake Rose after 31 minutes was enough to give Fisher a 1-0 win at Chatham Town – which confirms third place for them this season in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division. In a highly-competitive title race, they fell just short of champions and FA Vase finalists Cray Valley (PM) and Corinthian, who finished on 91 and 90 points respectively, above Fisher on 85. In the same division, a five-minute hat-trick from Will Johnson-Cole gave Punjab United a 3-0 win at Croydon – who will be relieved the season is finally over. They managed to take just 11 points from their 38 fixtures in finishing rock-bottom – 12 points behind nearest team Rusthall.

AFC Croydon Athletic also ended the campaign on a disappointing note as three second half goals gave visiting Lordswood a comfortable 3-0 victory.

In Division One, Forest Hill Park enjoyed themselves at the expense of FC Elmstead, winning 4-0 to end the season in style. James Teodorescu (13 minutes) and Akin Lawal (18) put the South Londoners in the driving seat. Kaz Bishop’s goal on the hour and another from Brima Daramy (85 minutes) wrapped up an easy win.

And two first-half goals from Lewis Miller earned Lewisham Borough a 2-2 draw at Kent Football United. It might have been even better, but for late goals from Aaron Guard and Alim Sesay, which gave the hosts a share of the spoils – their equaliser coming in the final minute.

Forest Hill finish seventh in the table, with Lewisham 11th.
