AFC Wimbledon centre-backs Darius Charles and Will Nightingale have both trained twice this week – but striker Joe Pigott has been sent home after feeling unwell.

Charles has been missing with a hip injury while Nightingale has been out with a knee problem.

“We’re getting there on the injury front but I’m always sceptical if I say something I’ll find out further down the line someone has got injured,” said Dons boss Neal Ardley.

“Darius and Will have trained the first two days this week. We are very, very close to having a lot more options available to us apart from the long term – Kwesi Appiah.

“Joe wasn’t very well at the start of the week – feeling a bit flu-like and weak. We sent him home but we’re pretty sure he’ll be training by Wednesday or Thursday. We’re hoping it won’t be a problem.”
