Dulwich Hamlet manager Gavin Rose has revealed that Michael Chambers turned down a new deal – with the former Crystal Palace man striving to play at the highest level possible next season.
The centre-back revealed recently that he would not be returning to Champion Hill.
Rose said: “Michael had been offered a deal, probably financially it wasn’t the deal he was looking for.
“He probably wanted more, which is well within his rights, but I also believe his ideal scenario would be getting a Conference club or a professional club.
“He was being respectful to us, not keeping us hanging. Michael could end up playing in two or three leagues – the one he is currently in, the Conference or League Two.”
