Crystal Palace v Aston Villa: Eagles unchanged from side which won at Manchester United – with Sakho boost on the bench

Roy Hodgson has named the same Crystal Palace line-up which defeated Manchester United last weekend to face Aston Villa this afternoon.

The Eagles boss made 10 changes for the League Cup defeat against Colchester United on Tuesday, but reverts to the team that won at Old Trafford.

It means Gary Cahill makes his full home debut against the club whose academy he graduated, while Jordan Ayew keeps his place against his former side having scored the opening goal in the 2-1 win against the Red Devils.

Jeffrey Schlupp and Joel Ward  return from their respective injuries having both missed Tuesday penalty shoot-out defeat. Patrick van Aanholt was rested against the U’s but starts at left-back today.

Mamadou Sakho makes the substitutes’ bench for the first time this season, alongside former Villain Christian Benteke.

Crystal Palace: Guaita, Ward, Kelly, Cahill, Van Aanholt, Kouyate, Milivojevic, McArthur, Zaha, Ayew, Schlupp. Subs: Hennessey, Sakho, McCarthy, Meyer, Camarasa, Townsend, Benteke.

Aston Villa: Heaton, Guilbert, Engels, Mings, Taylor, Douglas, Luiz, McGinn, Grealish, Jota, Trezeguet, Wesley. Subs: Steer, Lansbury, Hourihane, Konsa, El Ghazi, Elmohamady, Davis.
