Cops make big drug busts in Penge

Three men have been arrested after four houses were raided by drugs cops in a police operation to tackle youth violence and the supply of Class A and B drugs.

Officers executed warrants in Penge on Tuesday, June 11 and discovered a haul of Class A and B drugs, cannabis production equipment, large amounts of cash and a stun-gun.

Three males, aged 25, 29 and 39 years, were arrested. They have subsequently been released under investigation as police enquiries continue.

Police constable Chris Todd, from Bromley’s Neighbourhood Team, said: “This operation forms part of the South Area Command Unit’s commitment to targeting youth violence and those offenders supplying drugs within our communities.

“A significant amount of drugs and related items were removed from London’s street along with an illegal weapon. I hope that these results will show members of the community that we are committed to tackling violence in London, and also show criminals involved in drug dealing that we will find them and arrest them.”

Chief inspector Craig Knight added: “When communities inform us of drug dealing in their neighbourhoods we will always act to remove such dangerous people. I am delighted this operation has impacted positively on those living in Penge and I would encourage anyone with information that might assist us in keeping their community safe to come forward.”

Anyone with information about criminality in that area is asked to contact the Penge and Cator Safer Neighbourhoods Team on 020 8649 3541 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
