Liz Ejupi and Gemma Bryan gave Charlton a deserved win against London Bees, to keep pace near the top of the FA Women’s Championship table.
The Addicks’ fifth win of the league season means they are level on points with Manchester United in second place.
Ejupi, who scored four times in Charlton’s 8-0 win against Millwall Lionesses last weekend, took advantage of confusion in the London Bees’ box to bundle the ball in at the near post in the opening minutes.
After two brilliant saves from Charlton goalkeeper Katie Startup, the home side broke quickly and Bryan was tripped for a penalty. A powerful shot into the bottom right corner doubled the home side’s lead.
Addicks midfielder Hayley Bennett said: “It was a bit of a scrap. Usually we play prettier football, but it’s a clean sheet and three points so we can’t complain.
Millwall Lionesses are rock bottom and three points adrift of 10th-placed Crystal Palace Ladies after a 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa.
Millwall’s best chance came when Evie Clarke made space for herself in the area but her shot was kept out by a strong hand from Sian Rogers.
Lionesses keeper Chloe Sansom said: “It’s a disappointing result for us, we came into the game looking to improve on performances from previous weeks.”
