Charlton chief expects another bid from Peterborough for striker Josh Magennis

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer is expecting Peterborough to make another bid for Josh Magennis.

The Addicks rejected an offer from the Posh last week. But the Cambridgeshire outfit have sold Jack Marriott to Derby County – for a fee thought to be in excess of £3million.

Addicks caretaker manager Bowyer said: “I guess they’ll be back. Nobody just comes in, makes an offer and goes away.

“Josh is a Northern Ireland international and I get it – he’ll want to play at the highest level he can as well.

“If the fee is right it is something that the club would look at.

“We have to be ready in case that happens.

“People are interested in some of our lads and we have to have things lined up behind the scenes.

“If someone comes in last minute then we have got to have someone lined up to replace them.”

Charlton are in the market to bring in a loan goalkeeper but have a hefty reduction on the wages they paid out to land Ben Amos from Bolton last season.

Dillon Phillips could get a shot at the number one slot after impressing in pre-season.
