Charlton boss Lee Bowyer hopes to sign two before Saturday’s home game with Sunderland
Lee Bowyer hopes that Charlton can secure two new signings before this Saturday’s home game with Sunderland.
The January transfer window is now open and the Addicks boss is desperate to add to his injury-ravaged squad.
Bowyer had made clear his intention to add a new left-back to his squad with Lewis Page out long-term, but says that a player in another position could also be ready to join the South Londoners.
“Yeah, it’s close,” revealed the Addicks boss.
“I went and met the lad last week and everything’s agreed, I think we just need the green light and it’s all done.
“He could be another one,” he added when asked if a left-back could also be in his sights.
“There are two we’re really close to so, yeah. Hopefully we get them both in before Sunderland. That’s the plan.
“I’m not going to sit here and obviously tell you who but there are a couple of people that we’re looking at. One was here today, I believe, and watching the game.
“He would’ve seen how good we are, especially in the first half, and I’d bet he’s excited to be coming to play for a team that moves the ball like we did [in the] first half.”
