Charlton Athletic agree loan deal for Arsenal striker

Charlton Athletic are set to sign Stephy Mavididi on loan tomorrow – as the Arsenal striker returns for a second spell with the South London club.

The Addicks wanted the 19-year-old in the summer but he opted instead to join Preston North End. He has struggled for game time with the Championship outfit and was not on the bench for their 3-2 home defeat to Middlesbrough today.

Mavididi has featured just 10 times in the league for Preston and only three of those have been starts.

He impressed on loan for Charlton last season after joining in the 2017 January transfer window but suffered a serious hamstring injury which ended his campaign prematurely at the end of February.

He was not interested in the summer, can’t get a game now wants to come.

We don’t need another youth product we need an experienced striker, just goes to show no money available

Is Mr Robinson saying that Malvididi is a goal scorer?

Or maybe he was worried that Robinson would run him into the ground again and cripple him permanently. Don’t know if you watch Charlton play every week. But mavididi was your best player for the short time he was there last season. Your sitting outside the play off places in league 1. You are not going to get the strikers you probably think you can

    • Agreed totally re’ Mavadidi..Very promising young player. My son & I were there when he got crocked when we played away at AFC Wimbledon in February 2017. He was only on the field for 15 minutes but you could see he had quality. We should also be looking at good League 2 strikers. Who do you support yourself ?

Think you should sack the lot, and start again.

@Steve Jones – he’s a teenager; very few of us got every decision right at the age of 18/19 (whichever he was last summer).

  • Experienced mature striker is the order of the day. Not only to score goals but also teach our promising youngsters, they need to improve.

  • I like Mavadidi. He had the opportunity to play in the Championship previously, so I can understand his decision to choose Preston. We have good young talent at Charlton, and they should also be given a chance. Unfortunately Leon Best (to date) and Josh Magennis are not doing it for us…
