Giant food sculptures have appeared on London’s South Bank to call on the Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ‘face up to food waste’. The three temporary structures, created by the Surplus food app Too Good To Go, feature giant sculptures of potatoes, milk and bread – three of the UK’s most wasted food items.

Environmental protesters have caused traffic disruption after gluing themselves to a bridge. More than 60 members of Insulate Britain blocked three roads in London on Monday, October 25, including Southwark Bridge.

They say music makes the world go round – or at least Southwark. More than 130 children from three schools in the borough joined a day of music to bring the community together following the pandemic. The event had all the bells and whistles, with different musicians and singers performing at care homes and day centres across Southwark.

The family of a young man who died while trying to save a woman from drowning, was awarded the Mayor’s Discretionary Civic Award at a ceremony held at Southwark Cathedral. Folajimi Olubunmi-Adewole’s parents and brothers were presented the award at the Southwark Civic Awards on October 4, for his bravery and courage.

A 2,000-year-old house of four rooms, built by the first generation of Roman invaders in Britain, has been discovered on the site of a £20million offices and flats development.. Archaeologists have uncovered the large Roman building, featuring exquisitely decorated wall plaster and formal gardens.

Two runners were among 350 British Heart Foundation champions who conquered the London Marathon to raise funds for the charity’s life-saving research.  Wing Than, 41, from Southwark, raised an incredible £8,000. She took on the iconic challenge in memory of her dad, Tim, who died in his early 70s from a stroke.
