Adopt A Pet: Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and the South London Press have teamed up to find new homes for some of the hundreds of animals at the pet shelter in Battersea Park Road.  The charity aims never to turn away a dog or cat in need of help. Lost dogs and cats are reunited with their owners and, where that is not possible, the shelter cares for them until homes can be found.

Meet the fabulous Fabio. We believe Fabio is a Shepherd cross, he was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any background history on him.

What we do know is that he is a very loving and affectionate dog, who really adores a good belly rub and a fuss. Fabio can be social with dogs off-lead, however he has displayed some frustration on lead when meeting other dogs. Owners will need to be prepared to manage this behaviour and follow Battersea’s training advice. If willing to put in some training, you will be rewarded with a very sweet loyal companion.

Heidi has been a delicate flower since coming into Battersea. She has clearly had a rough start in life and is in desperate need of some TLC. Heidi has been unsure making new friends, but in true Beagle style, she loves her food and we have been using food to make friends with her.

She loves other dogs and would enjoy the company of another dog in her new home where she can have a dog who can show her the ropes.
Heidi will need extensive training and a family at home for most of the day to keep her company.

Terrific Timmy is a handsome tuxedo boy who is very affectionate once he gets to know.

He is a gentle, sweet boy as well as being quite playful, but he would really like a loving new home with a family who will dote on him.

Timmy will need a cat-proof garden with plenty of enrichment to keep him occupied as he has been tested for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).

Meet Junior our fun-loving greyhound. Junior is always ready to get involved with whatever his people are doing, whether that be playing or just enjoying a fuss.
Junior seems to like the company dogs his size, is happy to share space and potter around with them.
Being an ex-racing Greyhound, Junior may need a little time to get used all the home comforts on offer but we’re sure that he’ll think he’s gone to heaven once he finds out comfortable a sofa or bed can be.

Meet the beautiful Tipsy. Tipsy is both beautiful in looks and in her nature. She can be a little nervous on first meeting people but tends to move past this quickly.
Once she has got to know you she becomes very giggly and affectionate. She loves nothing more than a good fuss and belly rub. Tipsy needs to be the only dog in her new home. She is capable of being sociable, but likes to keep things on her terms and will give a telling off to dogs if they get too boisterous for her taste.

She will need owners who are able to build up her confidence through socialisation. She can be a little worried of the outside world, busy roads and loud noises so will need someone who can help build her confidence around these. Tipsy is a delightful girl with a massive heart.

The rehoming fee is £135 for dogs and £75 for cats. This includes microchipping, initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment, a collar, identification tag and lead, access to our behaviour advice line.

The animal will be neutered and there will also be the option of signing up to four weeks’ free pet insurance and a starter pack of food, advice and special offers. A home visit may be required.
