55 Siamese cats rescued from home in Croydon

Strange as it may seem, it sounds like some fleas have died and gone to heaven – in Croydon.
That can be the only conclusion after animal welfare officers found 55 Siamese cats from a single home – and they were worth around £25,000 in total.
The RSPCA revealed it picked up the literally enormous litter after their breeding became ‘out of control’.
Its inspectors were called in to deal with the battalion of moggies, who had taken over the home, on February 20.
With a total of 495 lives to call upon, the chances of the brood suffering any casualties is slim.
Staff are now looking for new homes for the dozens of cats, which include kittens and pregnant adults.
Siamese cats sell for around £500, so the entire troupe is worth up to £25,000 in total.
Liz Wheeler, RSPCA inspector, said: “Multi-cat households can often arise as a result of unneutered cats breeding until a situation becomes out of the owners’ control.
“The RSPCA often works with owners to neuter and reduce the numbers of cats and dealt with more than 1,000 calls relating to animal hoarding last year.
“The hope is that these cats can now be found loving homes and get their second chance at happiness.”
Siamese cats originate from Thailand and are supposed to be intelligent, curious and talkative.
The RSPCA says these cats will need a home with adults or families with older children. Some will be rehomed together as they are bonded, while others will be happier to be rehomed on their own.
They were then taken to three animal centres in the area – there are 11 cats at RSPCA Leybourne in Kent, six at the RSPCA Purley, Caterham and District branch and 38 Siamese cats at RSPCA South Godstone Animal Centre in Surrey.

I am interested in helping out homing a couple of these beautiful siamese. We currently have 3 chocolate point siamese, one is 16 now and fading fast. I have had siamese cats all of my life and understand them pretty well so feel obliged to help you out here. We live in an 8 bedroomed Edwardian mansion in South Nutfield, Surrey. The cats have their own bedroom and lots of space to roam.

I am very interested in re-homing a kitten. I have had Siamese cats for the last 25 years so fully aware how vocal they are but at the same time very loving. I lost my last Siamese boy some 18 months ago, we miss him terribly, especially his little naughty tricks. I have an 8 year old female snowshoe girl so feel a kitten may be more accepted by her especially as she is a re-homed ex-queen, she has lived with us for 5 years. My husband and myself are retired and living in a large bungalow by the coast. Our back garden is very safe and is enjoyed by my little girl, who adores bird watching.

I have lived with cats all of my life. Our old rescue tabby cat died recently at 20 years old approx. Back in the seventies, I used to breed Siamese cats and they were all amazing characters. My husband and I recently retired so at home all day. We live in a detached house with a large garden and situated on an unadopted road on Hayling Island. Depending on your charges, I may be interested in homing 2 cats -and would actually prefer that. However, I have not yet discussed this with my husband so obviously would have to do this before committing…
Hi, we live in Brighton (me and my 16 year old son, who has cats at his dad’s and so is used to them as a pet.) my mum is in Purley so it would be easy to come meet in person, we don’t mind how old the cat is really, we’d just like to help rehome a cat in need. Our house is on a quiet road one street up from the sea, if necessary we could have a house cat. We’d love to come view the cats of possible.
