Karl Robinson has confirmed that Tony Watt has left Charlton Athletic, but wouldn’t admit if he’d like to have kept the striker.
The former Celtic man was linked with a move to Belgian Second Division side OH Leuven and, following his side’s 2-0 defeat away at Plymouth Argyle, Robinson revealed that the move had gone through.
“Tony Watt has moved on,” said the Addicks boss.
“It’s something he wanted. He wanted a fresh start. It’s his decision, that’s his prerogative.
“That will stay internal,” added Robinson, when asked if he would have liked to have kept the 23-year-old.
“You can see all the players really want to be here and play a part of it. We wish Tony good luck with the decision he has to make. We’re starting to get rid of players that have been here for a long period of time now. We’re starting to clean a lot of things out.
“It’s hard behind the scenes to get that right but persevere with us and we’ll get the right players in and we’ll make this as exciting a season as we promised it to be.”
