Murder investigation launched after stabbing in the Old Kent Road


A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in Southwark.

Police were called at around 02:00hrs on Tuesday, 8 August, to a disturbance in the Old Kent Road, SE15.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and found a 19-year-old man suffering stab injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 02:50hrs.

At this early stage, it is believed that the victim was involved in an altercation involving a large group of people outside a nearby venue.

Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased but await formal identification. A post mortem will be held on Wednesday, 9 August.

Next of kin have been informed.

Five people were arrested near to the scene on suspicion of murder:

– [A] a 23-year-old man;
– [B] a 21-year-old man;
– [C] a 25-year-old woman;
– [D] a 25-year-old woman; and
– [E] a 23-year-old man.

They were taken to a south London police station where they remain in custody at this time.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, led by Detective Inspector Domenica Catino, are investigating.
