David Haye turned on Tony Bellew’s supporters during a rowdy press conference in Liverpool yesterday which kicked off the build-up to Saturday’s fight at Greenwich’s 02 Arena.

Bermondsey’s former two-weight world champion was always going to get a rough ride in Bellew’s home city. There were boos as he made his way to his seat and constant heckling and insults when he spoke.

The media push moves to the capital later in the week, where The Hayemaker is sure to have far more support.

“Empty your bank accounts and bet on Tony Bellew for a win, a stoppage – whatever,” he said. “If you are all so brave, bet all the money you have and bet it on Tony Bellew. That’s how you really show your support.

“If you really think he can win, then you can all win and all be happy. But deep in all your tiny minds you know this guy is getting drilled to the canvas pretty fast.

“Just remember to look after your boy when he comes back to Liverpool, because he’s going to need all your help.

“I’ve just got to turn up and knock this d******* out. It’s an easy night’s work.”
